This week was full of special program, and even though that sounds fun and interesting, most days turned out to be quite disappointing. Not only because it was all supposed to be a competition (which I do not thing is very fun) but also because the organisation wasn’t quite on point. No one really knew when to be where and what to do. And no, that was not only because some students just did not listen, but it was also due lack of communication from the teachers. But let’s jump back to Monday.

One challenge of the week was taking a selfie with the sunrise in the background. This was our result.
We did not have to be at school before 11 am which was very nice because it was a holiday after all. We arrived and separated into groups of 11, which was a lot because we had to be eye to eye witch whether we wanted to give our best in the competition or just have fun. But luckily, we all just wanted to have fun. We had to do different projects like for example build a wooden model, paint a mandala or finish a puzzle. Then there were other activities like chess or volleyball competitions. We also had the opportunity to go on one of two city trips, however there weren’t enough spaces for everybody to go on one which I think is quite unfair. Apart from that, there was this one girl who wanted to go on both the trips and somehow the teaches allowed her to even though others weren’t allowed to go on even one. I just think it is a bit disrespectful. Soraya and I decided to do the mandala and help with the model. The same girl that went on both trips decided which model we were going to do which would have been okey if she would have helped building it what she did not do. Anyways, I really enjoyed sketching the mandala on the canvas and was really looking forward to painting it.

On Tuesday we went to get the painting materials, but when I stepped into the art room to get MY brushes they were all gone. We searched to whole school and found 4 out of 9. And three of them were full of dried paint. What annoyed me even more is that one student (who definitely knew that they were mine, because I told her) took one and used it for oil painting. (Getting dried oil paint out of a small brush is impossible.) I have not found the other 5 till this day. And our teacher just said “Well, you can’t change some people’s behaviours, can you?” Like what??! Can I also just go around and steal phones without having to face consequences? Luckily, we were able to get the acrylic paint out of the other two and were able to start painting. It was a very time-consuming job, but I did really enjoy it. Some of our groups prepared a brunch which was quite a good snack for in between. We finished at about 6 that day (We hadn’t finished the painting by then.

On Wednesday a Brighton trip for everyone was planned. Some of the group had to play beach volleyball (It was 6 degrees and raining) but I luckily did not have to do that. Soraya and I wandered through the lanes and ate a poke bowl at a cute restaurant (We got a lollypop for bringing out plates back to the counter instead of just leaving the on out table :3) It was by far the best day of the week.

On Thursday I was able to go one the Canterbury trip. The day started with 3-hour car drive (instead of two due to traffic) But I have to say Canterbury was gorgeous. Sadly, it was raining. We got on our way back home at about 4 pm. We had a little incident on the way back with the car but I really do not have the energy to explain all of it here. The only thing important is we arrived back at school traumatised but alive. A friend of mine was supposed to finish the mandala today (arrive at school in the morning and work on it all day) I texted her multiple times during the day and she always just said “Yeah, yeah, I’m on my way.” Turns out, she wasn’t. In the end she spent a bit less then an hour on the painting and it was not finished at all. Due lack of energy because of the incident Soraya and I did not have the energy to stay longer and finish it that eventing, so we had to go to school earlier on the next day.

The plan was do paint a moon in the middle of the mandala which we the also tried to do on Friday morning. Even though we only had one hour left and it did not turn out that but (still not the way we wanted it but at that point we did not even care anymore. We were done with our nerves.)

The week ended and I was honestly just glad it was over. On Saturday I cooked at school with a few friends which was quite fun and after I went to Lenas place to chill for a bit (She just moved host family, and she wanted to show me where she lives.) Her new family seems really nice and welcoming and Lena is very happy.
